About Art Therapy

Art Therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that uses visual art processes to support psychological wellbeing and personal development. Grounded in theories from psychology, creativity research, and symbolic communication, it provides individuals with non-verbal avenues to access, organize, and express their internal experiences. Through engagement with materials such as paint, clay, or mixed media, clients externalize emotions and cognitive patterns that may be difficult to articulate verbally. The focus is not on artistic skill but on the meaning embedded in the creative process itself — how choices, gestures, and imagery reflect emotional states, relational dynamics, and unconscious material. Art Therapy has demonstrated effectiveness in enhancing emotional regulation, fostering insight, and strengthening a sense of agency and self-understanding across diverse populations.
